The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) together with the Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee organises awareness programs, outreach activities and student engagement events to promote gender equality, prevent violence and support vulnerable communities. President

Holds an important position and is in contact with MOE Innovation Cell.
Responsible to ensure a decent performance of IIC and will respond to all the communication from IIC National Coordination Team (MOE Innovation Cell).
Bearer of the IIC portal Login ID and will be the custodian of IIC portal login and data/ reports uploaded therein.

Vice President

Takes the role of building and strengthening the in-house mentor pool and human resource capacity to drive campus Innovation and Entrepreneurship activities.
Augment infrastructure support and facilities to encourage innovation and enabling environment of easy access to resources within and outside the institute.
Strengthen the intra and interinstitutional partnership and collaboration with ecosystem at different levels and creation of new program interventions.

Convener

Work in close coordination with the IIC President and will provide assistance wherever needed for the smooth conduct of activities.
Ensure the participation in the meeting and will prepare the meeting agenda at least 10 days prior, taking valuable inputs from all the council members and President.
Documentation and maintenance of the proceedings like photographs and minutes of the meetings.
Ensure that the internal examination dates would not clash with the IIC activities by ably coordinating with all the departments.
Collect ideas from all the members of the council at regular intervals, especially external members for better planning of IIC activities and effective delivery of results.

Social Media Co-ordinator

Create and manage the IIC page/account on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and other relevant social media platforms.
Post all the relevant information about the council meeting resolution and action plan, IIC activities and follow/tag MIC/IIC page and posts on these platforms.
Make sure that all the students follow MIC/IIC page/account on social media to get first-hand information.
Upload meeting videos in the Institution YouTube Channel and share the link with competent authorities.

Start-up Activity Co-ordinator

Identifying and guiding potential/early-stage entrepreneurs, student innovators at the Institute on a regular basis.
Build an important group of motivated students and faculty members with a creative potential, Entrepreneurial orientation and skillset.
Encourage faculty members and students to pursue research studies related to Entrepreneurship.

IPR Activity Co-ordinator

Organize events on IPR related activities as per IIC calendar and plan awareness programmes on a regular basis.
Coordinate with IPR Cell to generate revenue from patents, copyrights, trade secrets and others.
Commercialize innovations through technology transfer, technology licensing and Start-ups, etc.

Ensure the Institution’s Innovation Council’s logo and the words “in association with Institution’s Innovation Council, Ministry of Education (MOE), Govt. of India”, is included in the brochure without fail for all the academic activities of their respective departments like webinars, seminars and workshops related to Industry Interaction, Start-up, Entrepreneurship, Research and Innovation/Intellectual Property Rights (IPRS).
Establish Innovation Clubs for students with all the facilities and equipment need Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I & E) in their respective departments.
Develop an Innovative and Entrepreneurial mindset through a series of activities like workshops, awareness, market outreach events, orientation, advocacy meetings, campus hackathons and networking events (Intra and Interinstitutional, enablers, stakeholders).
Develop short term certificate courses on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Persuade departments to offer Major or Minor Specializations or credit courses related to Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I & E) and IPR.
Organize entrepreneurial development/employment skill generating programmes for external participants (local residents, community members, alumni etc.).
Procure grants from Government and Non-Govt. Bodies towards promoting and supporting innovations.

IIC at Mount Carmel College, is a very vibrant platform to organise various events related to entrepreneurship, Innovation, IPR and start-up for the benefits of the faculty and students’ community. Due to these various activities, students get various opportunities to participate in events and gain entrepreneurial knowledge and enable them to start their own venture. I attended innovation Ambassador training programs and gained insights into various topics related to entrepreneurship and Innovation- Dr. Shanthi S, Dean of Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
Thank you IIC for this wonderful initiative of creating an ecosystem that caters entrepreneurial minds. An initiative set up by Mount Carmel College to foster innovation and entrepreneurship culture among the students, faculty, and alumni to enable them to transform their business ideas into reality. The centre aspires to develop individual talent, skills and personality to give each business the best possible start, thus fostering entrepreneurship at a local and national level.
The objective of the centre is to offer unique and incentivized solutions, which will encourage students and faculties to ideate and design novel solutions. The centre will provide a supportive entrepreneurial environment that accelerates the successful development of start-up companies through an array of adequate resources and services. Our main goal is to produce successful firms that will leave the centre financially viable and freestanding.

To enhance the capacity of emerging innovators in evolving technologies and designing their innovations from ideation to impactful solutions.

To develop partnerships and networks with local industries/institutions and assist them in problem-solving by offering them innovative solutions in terms of products, services, and processes.

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is a flagship programme of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is inspired by the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions to help build the architecture of an Inclusive India.

The mission of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is to enable higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural India in identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth. Identification of the villages.
Field visit – Conducting Village survey and Household survey.
Recognition of major THREE problems/issues by contacting village development officer/representatives of village or by organizing Gramsabha meeting.
Preparation of plan of action/village development plan/technological intervention etc. for each village by consulting project co-ordinator and concerned stakeholders like Grampanchayats, BDOs, District Development Authority etc.
Evaluation of proposed solutions by Subject Expert Group.
Execution of Sustainable, Innovative, Implementable and Scalable technological intervention and Continuous Monitoring.

Nature of Intervention:

Low cost technological solutions covering agriculture, education, health, sanitation & hygiene, housing, organic/natural farming, drinking water, bio-energy, afforestation, skill development, digital literacy, e-gram panchayat etc.

The Mount Carmel College, Autonomous, is committed to empower women who are socially and economically marginalized in the community through a value based integral approach. Keeping this as criteria, the college has started an Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC), which will conduct several programs to impart knowledge about the social rights of the Minorities and SC/ST sections.

The UGC has planned to establish Equal Opportunity Centers in colleges to oversee the effective implementation of policies and programs for disadvantaged groups. These groups are SCs, STs, women, OBC (non-creamy layer), minorities, and physically challenged persons.

The main objectives of establishing this cell in colleges are

To provide guidance and counselling with respect to academic, financial, social and other matters.
To ensure equity and equal opportunity to the community.
To look into the grievances of the weaker sections of society and suggest an amicable solutions to their problems.
To disseminate the information related to schemes and programs by the Government and other agencies for the welfare of the socially weaker section.

2017

Orientation program

The Equal Opportunity Cell conducted an orientation program on 9thJan 2018, at 10:00 am to address the students to disseminate different social, economic, and educational programs conducted by the Government of Karnataka through Minorities and SC/ST departments.
Dr. E. Venkataiah, IAS, Rtd., Advisor to Nodal agency for SCSP and TSP, Social Welfare Department Vikasa Soudha, Bengaluru Government of Karnataka was the keynote speaker.
Dr. E. Venkataiah enlightened the students about the various schemes available for Minorities and SC/ ST Students.
Students from both UG & PG attended the orientation program. The students belonging to the Minorities and SC/ST students were requested to register their names in the Equal opportunity cell to avail more information on various schemes offered through the Directorate of Minorities, Minority Welfare Department, and Social Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka.

Minorities Right Day Program

To mark the “Minorities rights day” on 18 th December 2018, the Equal Opportunity Cell conducted an awareness program to disseminate different social, economic, and educational programs available for Minorities by the Minority Welfare Department, Directorate of Minorities, Government of Karnataka.
Mr. Niaz Ahmed Sheriff M, M.Com, Joint Director, Minority Welfare Department, Directorate of Minorities, Bengaluru, Government of Karnataka was the Keynote speaker.
The Directorate of Minorities ensures a more focused approach towards issues relating to the notified Minorities communities, namely Muslim, Christians, Jains, Buddhist, Sikhs, and Parsis. The Directorate working with a vision to enable all the Minority community people to lead a productive life with equal opportunities in the field of Socio, Economic, Education, etc.
Mr. Niaz Ahmed Sheriff M, introduced schemes to promote accelerated socio-economic development of Minorities, educational concessions for students, implementation of schemes for development of Women and Children, providing training and employment opportunities.
Brochures entitled “Know about Minorities Schemes”, “Civilization can be judged by the way it treats its minorities”- Mahatma Gandhi, was distributed amongst students to get more information about the schemes.

Curtain Raiser: By exclusively engaging first-year students, the event aimed to nurture their curiosity and passion for Business Fests.
Sacrosanct: the intradepartmental fest integrated BBA students into the festing team of the Association. Sacrosanct offers students the opportunity to showcase their skills, presentations were made, financial statements were analyzed, and PR statements were released.
Freshers Day: we had dived into India's past at "ADVITYA," a marketing challenge brimming with creativity. They unearthed forgotten treasures, crafting campaigns to revive their lost glory. It was a whirlwind of history, and rediscovery, igniting a love for India's unique heritage.
Seminar on Technological Advancements in Entrepreneurship: aimed at engaging presentations and discussions, participants explored the practical applications of AI and software in various business contexts delivered by Mr. Shashwat Behl.
Cul Week: "Astronomical Odyssey" allowed students to delve into PR simulations. Diverse skillsets navigated guest lists, social media fires, and image recovery strategies. This dynamic activity offered a unique platform to hone public relations skills.
Industrial visit to Dairy Day: The visit gave the students a comprehensive tour of the production facility, witnessing every step of the ice cream manufacturing process.
Academica: “Leadership Symposium” seamlessly integrated the Best Manager event and the “Planet Pioneer Pitch”, fostered a dynamic exploration of sustainability in management and marketing.
Cul Ah: “The Mission Impossible” event unfolded as "Wildfire Marketing," igniting creativity and innovation in brand storytelling.
CARPE DIEM’24 is a national level, inter collegiate fest. With a theme of “Anantakshaya". Participants from across colleges showcased their managerial skills, setting the stage for future leadership in the industry.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: visit to an orphanage, extending support by providing essential ration supplies to meet their basic needs. Additionally, we dedicated time to raising awareness about financial literacy among the children, empowering them with valuable knowledge for their future.
